The name Cairn came from this terrier's ability to recover vermin from the small entries in stone grave markers also known as "cairns." This breed is the ancestor of Westies, Skyes, and Scotties. It is the closest resemblance to the Highland Terrier. The most well known Cairn Terrier was Toto from the movie "The Wizard of Oz."
This little dog is intelligent and friendly. They are very active and have a great amount of stamina.
