The Japanese Shiba Inu breed of dog originates from Japan where it is the smallest of 6 Japanese dog breeds. In the UK Kennel Club the Japanese Shiba Inu is categorised in the 'Utility' dog group.
Japanese Shiba Inu's are very intelligent and independant dogs. Due to their hunting background, they should usually be kept on a leash as they have a tendancy to give chase after other animals.
