The Miniature Schnauzer breed of dog is a small Schnauzer type of dog. It is the smallest of three Schnauzer breeds, the other two being the Standard Schnauzer and the Giant Schnauzer. In the UK Kennel Club, the Miniature Schnauzer dog breed is classified in the Utility Dog Group. The Miniature Schnauzer dog breed was developed by breeding the Standard Schnauzer with one or more smaller dog breeds such as the Miniature Pinscher, Affenpinscher or Poodle.
Miniature Schnauzers are generally very alert dogs and are highly intelligent. They are not aggresive dogs but make great guard dogs as they are very vocal. They usually bark at anyone who they think may be a threat to their home.
